Jefferson Turns 15!

Jefferson is a fabulous fifteeen year old. He is athletic, focused, musical, hard working, a great public speaker and leader, considerate, grounded, handsome and a super big brother and babysitter (for other people too!). He is earning money for and preparing for his mission. We are very proud of our big boy.

I'm a little delayed in blogging Jefferson's birthday because I was waiting for pictures of his party to be sent to me. The afternoon of his birthday, Jefferson wanted to "throw" at the highschool and while he and Jeff were shot putting, Calvin fell off the bleachers and I had to run him to the ER. We were there for five hours and I missed Jefferson's party. (Later in the blog you'll see pictures of the nine staples in poor Calvin's head.)

For Jefferson's lunch date we went to the China Buffet, and then on to Big 5 and Walmart to shop for athletic clothes. He looked great at the Jr. Olympics.

Jefferson's favorite gift was his brand new "throwing" shoes (he's focusing on shot put).

At 6'2" and 219 pounds Jefferson is a coaches dream come true (and his dad is his coach)! He is looking forward to getting his driver's permit next week. He will be a great driver. He's already almost got enough saved up to buy a car.

Cub Scout Day Camp 2008

I was a den leader this year at our Cub Scout Day Camp and it was a great experience. Katie worked in the Day Care called "Tag-alongs" and was there with Julie, Charlie, Preston and Parker. Calvin was the den chief of Alex's den.

Annual Watergun Battle--Cubs vs. Leaders!!!

This was the most fun I've had in a LONG time!!! The energy level was euphoric. Running, screaming, dodging, spinning, shooting, pursuing. I felt like I was in a video game with 20 cub scouts coming at me at once. It was awesome!!! I was 100% drenched by the end and lovin' every second of it. Alex and Calvin were shocked and amazed by my Ninja/Gladiator moves. They now understand the meaning of the name Heidi-- "battle maiden". Every mom needs to do this.
