We were so grateful to be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Portland. They had very nice accomodations and lots of toys, books and videos for children. It was just a "wagon ride's" distance to the hospital and it helped Preston to feel like he was on a little vacation. Bless all those who make these facilities possible. It was very comforting to us at a stressful time.

He delighted the hospital staff by reading off all the letter sounds in the alphabet and singing cute little songs.
They couldn't believe he had just turned three.

The worst part was when they took him away from me, screaming, for the surgery. I will insist on a different scenario if I am ever in this situation again. When he came to, after surgery, he was inconsolable for several minutes. Thank goodness children are resilient. With a lot of Mommy and TLC, he was much better before too long.

He was pretty drugged up for some time. It was really sad to see him this way.

He was glad when he finally got to eat solid food again!

All's well that ends well. Thank you for your prayers and concern. We were greatly blessed it turned out as well as it did. Needless-to-say, we will not have a treadmill in our home again for some time.
